Senators Introduce Legislation to Streamline de novo Process

Senators Introduce Legislation to Streamline de novo Process

12/07/2011

Senators Scott Brown (MA) and Kelly Ayotte (NH) introduced legislation this week to improve the de novo process for medical technology innovators, and to increase predictability in the regulatory environment.

"This legislation would cut red tape for innovators and allow new products to reach patients faster," Senator Brown said.

"The United States leads the global medical device industry, and in order to stay on top and keep jobs in America, we have to make sure businesses can develop new, life-saving and life-improving technology by removing unnecessary regulations and increasing flexibility."

Senator Brown's legislation mirrors a bill that was introduced earlier this year in the House of Representatives by Rep. Brian Bilbray (CA), and builds on a growing effort in Congress to restore predicitability and transparency to FDA.

  1. We must create and keep manufacturing jobs in the USA. We must remove unnecessary regulations and increase flexibility in the medical device industry.

    1. That's a good review of A Waste Of Valuable Server Space. I often wonder why affluent people think that their gated communities will protect them from the results of poor public health planning and practices. the border fence is just the same thing writ large. 2. It is great to see Senators working together to get legislation passed that would cut red tape for innovators and allow new products to reach patients faster. Our medical personnel risk their lives everyday helping others. The least we should do is provide them with the best devices that make their job safer.

    1. Yes, we need our government to step up and do the right thing by removing unnecessary barriers to getting life saving medical devices to patients and medical staff.

  3. People are at risk of somethings that could be prevented. Is not only communities that dump stuff around but big organizations that should be protecting our lives they destroy them. There must be a legal place were everyone can dump such things. About Us
